OpenFlow Conformance Testing Program

The OpenFlow switch specification is the first SDN standard which provides a consistent way for controllers to communicate with OpenFlow-enabled hardware or software switches. As an Open Networking Foundation-accredited international testing facility, CNLABS provides OpenFlow conformance testing services to clients worldwide through the OpenFlow Conformance Testing Program. The certification program offers SDN switch vendors an opportunity to demonstrate compliance with the OpenFlow specification and get their products certified for OpenFlow compliance from ONF.

Why certify?

  • Increased customer confidence
  • Better brand value and competitive advantage
  • Right to use logos on certified products and collaterals
  • Listing of certified products on the ONF website

Check the ONF certification page for more reasons on how an open flow certification can benefit you.

Program overview

The OpenFlow 1.0 conformance program is based on the OpenFlow 1.0.1 switch specification. An OpenFlow switch impementing the Open Flow 1.0.1 switch specification can be certified for Full, Layer 2, or Layer 3 profile, depending on the implementation.

Open Flow 1.3 conformance program is based on the OpenFlow 1.3.4 switch specification. An OpenFlow switch implementing Open Flow 1.3.4 switch specification can be certified for a single table “base profile” as part of this program.

All ONF and non-ONF member companies are eligible to participate in the OpenFlow conformance test programs. More information on the Open Flow Conformance test program is available at the ONF page at https://www.opennetworking.org/openflow-conformance-certification.
